What a composite restoration is
When decay or a fracture destroys part of a tooth, we rebuild it with composite: a material that bonds to the tooth and is shaped in the mouth, layer by layer, until the original form is restored.
We choose the composite in the exact shade of the tooth, so the restoration is practically invisible. We stopped using silver amalgam years ago because of its mercury content.
Who it is for
To treat cavities, repair chipped or worn edges, replace old metal fillings and correct small cosmetic defects on the front teeth.
When the damage is very extensive, a filling may not be enough; in that case we will suggest a crown, or root canal treatment first if the nerve is affected.
How we do it at the clinic
We clean the damaged area, protect the tooth and shape the composite, in a single visit in most cases. We adjust the bite and polish the surface so that it blends with the enamel.
You receive a competitive quote, in writing and by email, before we start, and everything is explained in English. You can see restorations done at our clinic on the real cases page.
